50 Hour Mentoring Programme

New Course – September 2024

DOWNDOG ACADEMY – Yoga Alliance Professionals 50 Hour Mentoring Programme.

A fun, engaging and comprehensive course designed to bring more knowledge, energy and connection to your yoga practice. Do you have your 200 hours, yet feel you need a little more confidence to feel comfortable leading your own class?  Do you love your practice, yet know that with some guidance and a deeper understanding of yoga and all it has to offer, you would really reap the rewards of this transformative practice and philosophy? If so, this course is for you.

Yvonne, the Lead Teacher has 25 years teaching experience.  She has students practising with her since 1999, some of whom are graduates of DownDogAcademy and now confident, creative yoga teachers.  Her dedicated students still with her today are a testament to the quality and knowledge she has to offer all of her students as a yoga teacher.

In Studio Cost : €800  –   Online Cost: €300

Limited to 8 In Studio

1. Strengthening your own practice – As a teacher your own practice to be continually evolving, you need to be
able to inspire your students, for this you need to be inspired. This does not mean you have to be able to do all
the “tricks”, but have a practice that shows you are dedicated practitioner, and you are benefiting from the
magical energy of yoga.

2. Meditation & Pranayama – You will explore and practise a variety of pranayama (breath) techniques. You will learn how to encourage your students to create time to still and calm their mind.  To be able to teach you need to experience the benefits. During this course you will learn to understand the magic of meditation and the power of breath.

3. Anatomy –  This module led by Sheenagh Sexton qualified Physiotherapist, Acupuncturist and Mindful Movement Teacher gives an amazing insight into the “why” we do each pose, and when to adapt poses.

4. Teaching any Asana – We do not need to be able to master a posture to teach the posture. Some bodies will never do certain poses. Yet once you know how the asana is taught, understand the anatomy of the posture and what muscles are being used – You can teach and assist in that pose.

5. Experiencing other styles of Yoga – Be inspired by other schools of yoga, other styles of yoga. Even if the style is not for you – too slow, too meditative, or a class with too few poses or too many props.  It shows you that you can adapt any class for any student.

6. Eat like a Yogi – Enjoy an afternoon of cooking and eating nutritious and delicious vegetarian dishes.  A trip to Ciara’s Kitchen in Delgany where we all enjoy watching Ciara prepare and cook an array of creative, easy to follow recipes.  We watch, eat and learn.

7. Living a Yoga Life – This is a subjective topic, and like all philosophies, yoga philosophy can be interpreted differently depending on what you read or listen to. Richard Freeman infamously said “Yoga ruins your Life” … He did go on to explain that if you do practise yoga on a regular basis – the auto pilot of “life” that at times we all fall into is slowly transformed into a life that is naturally more awake, balanced, healthy and happy. The little things that used to bother you don’t so much anymore. You feel less stressed, more balanced and content. Relationships become easier as emotions thoughts and feelings become clearer and less reactive. Late nights, over indulging in food or alcohol are not compatible with your new constant companion – Yoga. Yoga brings
about change, both within you and to those around you. It is a constant journey of transformation.
